This play yard is truly a beast, it is way above and beyond the bargain units, and rightly so for the steep price. The design is very clever, the single push setup works really well, just make sure the center is clicked in by lifting a corner and pushing the center down. Pulling the release strap and lifting the center post causes all the sides to drop neatly without hanging up. Compared to our Graco, the difference is clear. Our toddler had trouble sleeping in the Graco once he became mobile, because the bottom pad is loosely hanging by the fabric, allowing a ton of swaying movement. The Chicco supports the bottom of the pad extremely well with actual struts, reducing motion, and thus noise. The pad structure is also much more solid, and includes direct Velcro attachments in addition to the loops to the base. He sleeps much better on trips now with the Chicco. The fabric is much thicker, and the mesh will last much longer thanks to the superior construction. The carrying case has a full length, excellent quality zipper. It isn’t a struggle to stuff it into the case either. The pad is covered with almost an inch of firm foam, so it will provide extra comfort for your kiddo. All the benefits come at a price, the Chicco is 29lbs with the bassinet insert, where the Graco is less than 20. The packed up size is about 30x12x12 inches with the Chicco, 2 inches more in every dimension than the Graco. Overall, an excellent product, and I would highly recommend it. The bassinet insert would work well as a full time bed for an infant, and provides much more space than a traditional bedside bassinet, serving 2 purposes in one.
